Welcome to Godly Emotion. Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the Godly Emotion mobile application ("App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. About the App

Godly Emotion is a spiritual grounding companion that provides curated Bible verses, guided reflections, a prayer journal, a Bible reader, and a study assistant to help users process their emotions through faith and Scripture. The App is developed and maintained by Chidinma Ikebujo ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Eligibility

The App is rated 9+ on the Apple App Store. If you are under the age of majority in your province or country, you may use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. Children under 13 may use the App only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

3. User Accounts

Godly Emotion does not require you to create an account, provide a password, or share any personal identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the App. If you choose to provide your first name during onboarding, it is stored locally on your device for personalization and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose as a spiritual companion and Bible study tool. You agree not to:

5.1 Nature of Generated Content

Certain features of the App — including emotion-based guidance, the Bible study assistant ("Help me understand"), personalized prayers, and daily Quiet Moments — produce content dynamically using language model technology. This content is generated in response to your inputs and is intended to support personal spiritual reflection.

5.2 Study Aid Disclaimer

As stated within the App itself: the Bible study assistant is a study aid. It can help you reflect on what a verse means, but it is not the Bible, prayer, or pastoral counsel. You should treat its responses as a starting point for reflection, not as a final word or authoritative interpretation.

5.3 No Guarantee of Accuracy

While we take care to design the content generation system with theological sensitivity, warmth, and safety guardrails, generated content is produced by a language model and may occasionally contain inaccuracies, incomplete information, or responses that do not perfectly align with your theological tradition. We encourage you to verify any generated content against the Bible text itself and to consult with a trusted pastor, priest, or spiritual leader for important theological questions.

5.4 Ownership of Generated Content

Content generated through the App in response to your inputs is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You may save, copy, or share generated content (such as prayers or verse explanations) for personal spiritual purposes. We do not claim ownership over content generated in response to your specific inputs.

6. Bible Content and Intellectual Property

6.1 Bible Translations

The App includes the full text of five Bible translations, each used in the public domain or under its applicable license or permission terms:

6.2 App Intellectual Property

All other aspects of the App — including but not limited to the user interface design, visual themes, curated devotional content (reflections, explanations, and guided prayers written by us), illustrations, icons, the App name "Godly Emotion," and the underlying source code — are the intellectual property of Chidinma Ikebujo and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on any proprietary aspect of the App without our prior written consent.

7. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 Not Medical, Psychological, or Professional Advice

Godly Emotion is a spiritual wellness companion. The App is not a medical device, a mental health treatment tool, a licensed counseling service, or a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric care.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm or suicide, or any medical emergency, please contact emergency services (call 911, or your local equivalent), the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in Canada and the US), or a licensed healthcare professional immediately.

The App should not be used as a replacement for professional treatment for clinical anxiety, depression, or any other medical or psychological condition.

8.2 Not Pastoral or Spiritual Authority

The App is designed to complement, not replace, your relationship with a local church, pastor, priest, spiritual director, or faith community. Generated reflections and explanations are offered humbly as a starting point for personal study and should not be treated as authoritative theological teaching or divine instruction.

8.3 "As Is" Provision

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

8.4 Accuracy of Scripture and Content

We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate Scripture references and devotional content, but we do not guarantee that all references, formatting, generated explanations, or study content will be free from error.

9. Usage Limits

To ensure fair access and manage costs, certain features of the App (such as the emotion-based guidance and Bible study assistant) are subject to daily usage limits. These limits are applied on a per-device basis and reset each day. If you reach your daily limit, the App will inform you and invite you to return the following day.

We reserve the right to adjust usage limits at any time without prior notice.

10. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

Godly Emotion may offer optional paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. Any purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms.

If you purchase an auto-renewable subscription, it will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings.

We do not collect or store your credit card number, banking information, or direct payment details. Refund requests are handled by Apple according to its App Store policies.

We may change, add, or remove paid features over time. Any changes to subscription pricing or renewal terms will be handled through Apple's App Store where required.

11. Notifications

If you choose to enable notifications during onboarding or through your device settings, the App will schedule local daily reminders at your preferred time. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and are not sent from our servers. You may disable notifications at any time through your device's Settings app.

12. Third-Party Services

The App relies on certain third-party services to function. These include:

Your use of the App is subject to the terms and policies of these third-party providers where applicable. We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or performance of third-party services.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Chidinma Ikebujo and any affiliates, contributors, or service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to access the App in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or $0.00 if you have not paid anything.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chidinma Ikebujo from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the App.

15. Modifications to the App and These Terms

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time, with or without notice. We also reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Termination

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the App's backend services (such as content generation) for any device that violates these Terms, engages in abuse of the service, or attempts to circumvent security or rate-limiting measures.

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. Upon uninstallation, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction located in Ontario, Canada.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Chidinma Ikebujo regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

20. Apple App Store

These Terms are intended to serve as a custom end-user license agreement (EULA) for the App. The App is made available through the Apple App Store. You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Chidinma Ikebujo only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"), and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price you paid for the App (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession or use of it, including product liability, failure to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection, and intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist-supporting," and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
